Matt McConnell is a researcher in the Business and Human Rights division of Human Rights Watch. His research and advocacy currently focus on the human rights impacts of increasing healthcare costs, medical debt, and abusive debt collection practices in the United States. Matt was previously a fellow with the US Program and Business and Human Rights division, where he wrote a report documenting how federal deregulation threatened to worsen already dangerous working conditions in the meatpacking industry. His work has been cited or published in a range of outlets, including The New York Times, The Hill, USA Today, Mother Jones, and HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
Matt is a graduate of the University of California and Stanford Law School. Prior to law school, Matt was a Peace Corps volunteer in Mongolia. He is currently based near Oakland, California and can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
